Each tells their story in order, with the years inside the games (not release years), and starts with an In the guides line that links every page they have: their character page and, where they are one, their boss page. The CG films (Degeneration, Infinite Darkness, Damnation, Vendetta, Death Island) are part of the story and appear here; the live-action ones don’t count (see films and series). For the events one after another, see the complete chronology.

Protagonists

Leon S. Kennedy

In the guides: RE4 · RE6 · Requiem

A rookie Raccoon City cop who turns up for his first day on the night of 29 September 1998 and escapes the city with Claire and Sherry (RE2). The army captures him with the girl and Adam Benford gives him a choice: work for the government in exchange for Sherry’s safety. In 2002 he runs Operation Javier with Jack Krauser (Darkside Chronicles). In autumn 2004 he rescues Ashley in Spain (Resident Evil 4); Luis’s machine removes his Plaga in chapter 5-4. Then come Harvardville (2005, Degeneration), the White House (2006, Infinite Darkness) and the DSO that Benford founds in 2011, of which he is a founding member (Damnation). In 2013 he has to kill the infected President and takes down Simmons (Resident Evil 6); in 2014 he loses his team (Vendetta) and in 2015 he goes to Alcatraz (Death Island). In 2026, sick with Raccoon City Syndrome, he goes down into ARK after Grace and Elpis cures him in the canon ending (Requiem).

Chris Redfield

In the guides: RE5 · RE6 · RE7 · Village · Requiem

A member of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team who survives the Spencer Mansion in July 1998 (RE1). In December he goes after his sister Claire to Rockfort Island and Antarctica, and finds out Wesker is alive (Code: Veronica). With Jill he destroys Umbrella’s last base in February 2003 and is one of the eleven founders of the BSAA. In August 2006 he loses Jill at Spencer’s estate (Lost in Nightmares); in March 2009, with Sheva, he gets her back and kills Wesker (Resident Evil 5). In December 2012 Carla wipes out his squad in Edonia and he loses his memory; in 2013 Piers dies saving him. After Vendetta (2014) and Death Island (2015), in July 2017 he reaches Dulvey with Blue Umbrella and kills Lucas Baker (Not a Hero). In 2018 he takes the Hound Wolf Squad on his own authority; in 2021 he shoots the fake Mia and storms the village (chapter 12). In 2026 he doesn’t appear: he sends his wolves into ARK.

Jill Valentine

In the guides: RE5: page, boss alongside Wesker in the Monarch Room · Requiem: mentioned among the 1998 veterans

S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team, a survivor of the mansion in July 1998. She stays in Raccoon City and in late September tries to escape with the Nemesis on her heels; Carlos gets her the vaccine and, in the version later games follow, Barry flies her out before the missile on 1 October (RE3; in the 2020 remake she and Carlos leave on their own). She co-founds the BSAA with Chris. In August 2006 she throws herself and Wesker off a cliff to save Chris (Lost in Nightmares) and in November she is declared dead. Wesker uses her: her t-Virus antibodies help him tame Uroboros, and a device on her chest that injects her with the drug P30 makes her his masked agent. Chris and Sheva free her in March 2009 (chapter 5-3) and she escapes with Josh in Desperate Escape. After a long rehabilitation she is back in the field at Alcatraz in 2015 (Death Island). In Requiem only her beret is left at the police station.

Claire Redfield

In the guides: no page: she isn’t in the games the guides cover.

A college student who reaches Raccoon City looking for her brother Chris on the night of 29 September 1998 and protects Sherry Birkin until she gets her out (RE2). In December she is captured at Umbrella’s Paris facility and taken to Rockfort Island; with fellow prisoner Steve Burnside she flees all the way to Antarctica, where Chris rescues her (Code: Veronica). She then works for the NGO TerraSave: Harvardville with Leon (2005, Degeneration), Penamstan (2006, Infinite Darkness), the kidnapping to Sein Island with Moira Burton (2011, Revelations 2) and Alcatraz (2015, Death Island). She visited Sherry while the girl lived in the custody of Simmons, whom she distrusted. Her games are in other games.

Ada Wong

In the guides: RE4 · RE6

A freelance spy, working for Umbrella’s rival company. She also worked for Derek Simmons and left him when she learned he was behind the destruction of Raccoon City (Ada and Derek). Around 1997 she infiltrates the Arklay laboratory by dating the researcher John Clemens. In Raccoon City (1998), sent by Wesker, she claims to be looking for her boyfriend (in the remake, to be with the FBI) to steal the G-Virus; she falls into the abyss and survives with a sample (RE2, Umbrella Chronicles). In 2004 she shadows Leon through Spain (Resident Evil 4 and Separate Ways): she rings the bell in chapter 1-1, finishes off Krauser, throws Leon the rocket launcher against Saddler and walks off with the Dominant Plaga in the finale; Wesker gets a different sample. In 2011 she steals a Plaga in the Eastern Slav Republic (Damnation). In 2013 she finds that Simmons has turned Carla Radames into her double, kills her in Ada 4 and helps finish Simmons (Ada 5). What she did next is unknown.

Sherry Birkin

In the guides: RE6 · Requiem

The daughter of William and Annette Birkin, the creators of the G-Virus. In Raccoon City, in September 1998, her monstrous father implants an embryo in her; Claire saves her with the vaccine Annette points her to, but the virus leaves her with lifelong regeneration (RE2). Leon’s deal protects her, though she spends eleven years in government custody, with Derek Simmons as her legal guardian; his team derives the C-Virus from her blood samples. Free from 2009 (Life without Freedom), she becomes an agent (DSO from 2012). In December 2012 she goes to Edonia to find Jake (Jake 1), spends six months as Carla’s test subject and escapes with him in 2013 (Jake 5). In 2026 she is Leon’s radio support, sick with Raccoon City Syndrome herself (stage 1), and the vial of Elpis Leon brings her cures her (chapter 15).

Rebecca Chambers

In the guides: RE5 (The Mercenaries) · the 1998 veterans in Requiem

S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team’s medic. On the night of 23 July 1998 she survives the Ecliptic Express and Umbrella’s old training school with the prisoner Billy Coen, whom she lists as dead in her report (RE0); the next day she joins the mansion survivors (RE1). Later she earns a doctorate in virology and advises the BSAA. In 2014 she is researching a vaccine for Glenn Arias’s A-virus when he kidnaps and infects her; Chris saves and cures her (Vendetta). In 2015 she makes another vaccine on Alcatraz (Death Island). In Requiem her photo is in the book Wesker borrowed from the police station library (Photograph).

Barry Burton

In the guides: RE5 (The Mercenaries) · the 1998 veterans in Requiem

S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team. In July 1998 Wesker blackmails him with threats to his family (RE1). After the mansion he goes to Canada; in the classic RE3 he comes back to fly Jill and Carlos out of Raccoon City. He works with Leon on the US government’s anti-Umbrella team until 2003 and at first refuses to join the BSAA so he can be with his family. In 2011 he goes to Sein Island for his daughter Moira, adopts the girl Natalia and, with Claire, finishes Alex Wesker (Revelations 2). Requiem’s police station keeps his 1998 to-do list (Barry’s To Do List).

Sheva Alomar

In the guides: RE5

A West African BSAA agent, 25 in 2009. She grew up next to an Umbrella plant; the company’s special forces covered up an accident there and killed her parents, and she went through the guerrillas before reaching the BSAA (Sheva Alomar). She was trained by Josh Stone. In March 2009 she is Chris’s partner in Kijuju, from the checkpoint in chapter 1-1 to the volcano in chapter 6-3. She keeps the PG67A/W syringes Excella drops, and with them they weaken Wesker. In 2012 she offers Piers help when Chris goes missing.

Piers Nivans

In the guides: RE6

A US Army special forces sniper whom Chris recruits into the BSAA in 2010; he is Chris’s second in command. He survives the Edonia ambush in December 2012 (Chris 2) and spends six months looking for Chris until he brings him back in June 2013 (Chris 1). In the undersea lab, on 1 July 2013, he injects himself with the C-Virus to beat Haos, saves Chris and dies (Chris 5; Piers’ File). Chris tells Jill about it years later.

Jake Muller

In the guides: RE6

The son of Albert Wesker, who never knew about him: his mother raised him alone in Edonia, and her illness pushed him into mercenary work. In Edonia, on 24 December 2012, Sherry finds him: his blood carries antibodies against the C-Virus and he names a price (Jake 1). They are captured the next day and spend six months held in China while Carla uses his blood; she tells him who his father was (Jake’s Childhood, Jake Muller’s Infamous Father). In 2013 he escapes, kills the Ustanak and his blood gives the vaccine (Jake 5; C-Virus Vaccine). He cuts his fee to 50 dollars and goes off to fight bioweapons in a war-torn country.

Helena Harper

In the guides: RE6

An ex-CIA agent with a misconduct record, in the Secret Service in 2013. Simmons blackmails her through her sister Deborah into opening a gap in President Benford’s security at Tall Oaks (Helena’s Crime). She confesses to Leon and fights beside him from Tall Oaks to China (Leon 1 to Leon 5); under the cathedral she watches her sister mutate and die (Leon 2). In the end she is cleared at Deborah’s grave and returns to duty.

Ethan Winters

In the guides: RE7 · Village

A systems engineer from Los Angeles, a civilian. He marries Mia on 29 May 2011 without knowing she works for The Connections; in October 2014 Mia disappears. In July 2017 an email from her brings him to the Baker farm in Dulvey (Resident Evil 7): in chapter 1 Jack Baker beats him to death, and the Mold, which had already replaced him, keeps him going without his knowing. He kills Eveline in chapter 8. With Mia he moves to Eastern Europe under witness protection; in 2020 Rose is born. In February 2021 he crosses the village to get her back (Village): Miranda tears out his heart, he comes back, kills her and dies blowing up the Megamycete on 10 February (chapter 12). In 2037 a fragment of his consciousness guides Rose as Michael.

Mia Winters

In the guides: RE7: page, boss in the guest house, with the chainsaw and on the ship · Village: page

A Connections operative from 2010 and Eveline’s handler with Alan Droney. She marries Ethan in 2011 without telling him anything. In October 2014 she escorts Eveline on the ship Annabelle; the girl breaks loose, the ship runs aground in Dulvey and the Bakers take them in (chapter 6). She spends almost three years infected and half-controlled, trying to protect others from Eveline. In 2017 Ethan saves her (the canon ending is the one that chooses her). The BSAA keeps her secret, even from Ethan, in exchange for her cooperation. In February 2021 Miranda kidnaps her and steals her face; Chris finds her in chapter 12. Afterwards she raises Rose, at least for a time.

Rose Winters

In the guides: Village

Rosemary, Ethan and Mia’s daughter, born on 2 August 2020 (Medical Checkup Report) to two Mold-mutated parents. The Connections tell Miranda, who wants her as a vessel for her daughter Eva: in February 2021 she crystallises her and splits her into four flasks held by her Lords. The ritual revives Rose, not Eva. She grows up under US government protection, with Chris and the Hound Wolf Squad as family. In 2037, aged 16, she enters the Megamycete’s memory to get rid of her powers (Shadows of Rose); there she says goodbye to her father, destroys Miranda’s echo (Shadows of Rose 3) and decides to keep them.

Grace Ashcroft

In the guides: Requiem

An orphan adopted as a baby by Spencer, who called her his “hope”. When he dies, in 2006, his will puts her in the care of journalist Alyssa Ashcroft (Letter from Patrick), who never tells her. On 19 October 2018 she watches Alyssa being murdered at the Wrenwood Hotel. From 2025 she is an FBI intelligence analyst. In October 2026 she is sent to that same hotel (chapter 1): Victor Gideon kidnaps her, convinced she is a clone carrying Spencer’s memories and the Elpis password. She isn’t: she is an ordinary child. In ARK she types “Hope”, releases the antiviral and cures Leon (chapter 15); afterwards she adopts Emily. Her whole story is in Requiem.

Villains

Oswell E. Spencer

In the guides: RE5 · Village · Requiem

A British aristocrat and eugenicist. In the 1950s, as a medical student, he gets lost in the snow in Eastern Europe; Mother Miranda rescues him and he learns from her how the Mold works (Spencer’s Letter). In 1966 his team isolates the Progenitor virus in Africa and in 1968 he founds Umbrella with James Marcus and Edward Ashford, with the village’s Four Houses symbol as the logo. He starts the Wesker Project, has Marcus killed (1988) and, according to Requiem, builds ARK under Raccoon City. After Umbrella falls he hides on his European estate; in August 2006, dying, he tells Wesker he is a product of that project and Wesker kills him (Lost in Nightmares; Spencer’s Memoirs 1). Requiem shows him remorseful: he adopted Grace and created Elpis, an antiviral. The games spell him “Ozwell”. His story is in Umbrella.

Albert Wesker

In the guides: RE4: page · RE5: page, boss in Lost in Nightmares, the Monarch Room, the hangar and as Uroboros Wesker · RE6: page

One of the children of Spencer’s Wesker Project. He joins Umbrella’s training school with William Birkin in 1977 and captains S.T.A.R.S. from 1996. In July 1998 he betrays his team in the mansion; the Tyrant impales him and a virus from Birkin revives him with superhuman powers. He then works for Umbrella’s rival company and in December hunts the T-Veronica (Code: Veronica). In February 2003 he takes Umbrella’s archives from the Caucasus and uses them to sink it; the data ends up with Excella and Tricell. In 2004 he pulls the strings of the hunt for the Plaga through Krauser and Ada (in Resident Evil 4 he only speaks over the radio). In 2006 he kills Spencer and takes Jill; he prepares Uroboros. On 7 March 2009 Chris and Sheva kill him in a volcano (chapter 6-3). He leaves a son, Jake, and a war with Chris that RE6 looks back on in Chris and Albert. His whole thread is in Wesker.

Alex Wesker

In the guides: no page.

The other survivor of the Wesker Project besides Albert, close to Spencer. She signs as “Alex W.” the 1998 report that lists Albert as dead (Report on Project W). She takes over Sein Island and the t-Phobos project. In 2011 she kidnaps Claire and Moira to move her mind into a new body and shoots herself; she survives, injects herself with Uroboros and, mutated, falls to Barry and Claire in August (Revelations 2). In the 2013 epilogue her consciousness slowly takes over the girl Natalia.

James Marcus

In the guides: no page.

A virologist, co-founder of Umbrella and first director of its executive training school in the Arklay Mountains (1968). In 1966 he travels to Africa with Brandon Bailey and finds the Progenitor; on 13 January 1978 he announces the success of the t-Virus (Telegram from James Marcus), made with leech DNA. According to Requiem, in 1986 The Connections pay him 30 million dollars through the F Foundation. In 1988 he is assassinated on Spencer’s orders, with Wesker and Birkin present; the leeches take over his body and, as the Queen Leech, take their revenge on Umbrella in 1998 (RE0).

William and Annette Birkin

In the guides: no pages; their daughter has one: Sherry.

Umbrella researchers. William, Wesker’s colleague since 1977, leads the Tyrant programme and, from 1991, the G-Virus in NEST, the lab under Raccoon City. On the night of 22–23 September 1998 an U.S.S. team led by HUNK raids him to steal the virus; wounded, he injects himself, becomes “G”, kills the team and the t-Virus spills into the sewers. He then hunts his daughter to implant an embryo in her. Annette tells Claire how to make the vaccine and dies at her husband’s hands; G dies when NEST self-destructs (RE2). See Raccoon City.

Alexia and Alfred Ashford

In the guides: no pages.

Twins born in 1971 from the CODE: Veronica project, genetic copies of their ancestor Veronica Ashford. Alexia graduates at 10, creates the T-Veronica, infects her father Alexander in 1982 and in December 1983 injects herself and sleeps fifteen years in cryogenic stasis. Alfred runs the prison on Rockfort Island; in December 1998 he hunts Claire and Steve and, dying, wakes Alexia in Antarctica. She infects Steve and Chris kills her (Code: Veronica). The T-Veronica lives on: Javier Hidalgo uses it in 2002 and it is one of the bases of the C-Virus.

Osmund Saddler

In the guides: RE4: page, boss

The leader of Los Iluminados. He comes to Valdelobos as a healer around the turn of the century, persuades the young Ramón Salazar to break the Plagas’ seal and converts the village chief, Méndez. His plan: infect Ashley, the US President’s daughter, and send her back to her father; plan B, an army and a warship (Our Plan). In 2004 he reveals to Leon and Ashley that they carry his Plaga (chapter 2-1), kills Luis in chapter 3-3 and takes his sample. He dies on the island to the rocket launcher Ada throws Leon (finale). More in Las Plagas.

Ramón Salazar

In the guides: RE4: page, boss

The eighth castellan of Valdelobos, very young (he claims to be 20). His ancestors, from Gregorio Salazar on, kept the Plagas sealed under the castle; Saddler persuades him to atone for that “sin” by releasing them. He guards the Queen Plaga in his tower. In 2004 he welcomes Leon in chapter 3-1, takes over his radio in chapter 3-2 (according to Fandom, Krauser gave him the frequency), sets the Verdugo on him and in chapter 4-4 merges with the Queen Plaga and dies (Castellan Memo).

Bitores Méndez

In the guides: RE4: page, boss

The village chief. Saddler converts him and, through him, the whole village, infected in a “cleansing ritual”. In 2004 he knocks out Leon and Luis in chapter 1-1. In 1-2 he grabs Leon by the throat, notices the Plaga (“the same blood as us”) and lets him go; in an optional scene in 1-3 he attacks him again and Ada shoots him through the window. Leon kills him in chapter 2-3 and his False Eye opens the way to the castle (Chief’s Note).

Jack Krauser

In the guides: RE4: page, boss

A former US Army major. In 2002 he is Leon’s partner in Operation Javier (Darkside Chronicles), comes out of it with an injured arm, fakes his death in a crash and joins Wesker. In 2004 he infiltrates Los Iluminados and, to win Saddler’s trust, kidnaps Ashley. In chapter 5-3 he knife-fights Leon, admits he took her “for Umbrella’s sake” and, mutated, loses in the ruins (Krauser’s Note); Ada finishes him in Separate Ways. Wesker takes a Dominant Plaga from his body.

Ricardo Irving

In the guides: RE5: page, boss

A bioweapons dealer and the head of Tricell’s oil fields, aged 30. He sells Type 2 Plagas to the Kijuju insurgents and infects the Ndipaya with Type 3 by passing them off as a vaccine (Irving’s Note on Las Plagas). In March 2009 he escapes in the mines with the help of a hooded woman (chapter 2-2); on his ship he injects a Dominant Plaga and dies, but not before pointing to the caves and naming Excella (chapter 3-3).

Excella Gionne

In the guides: RE5: page, boss as Uroboros Aheri

An heiress of the Travis family that founded Tricell; she joins its pharmaceutical division at 18. Wesker gives her Umbrella’s data and around 2006 she runs Tricell Africa, funds Uroboros and builds the lab in Umbrella’s old centre under the Ndipaya ruins; she thinks she will rule at his side. In March 2009 she drops the PG67A/W serum case on the ship (chapter 6-1) and Wesker, who was using her as a distraction, injects her with Uroboros (chapter 6-2). Her company had already bought WilPharma and its G samples in 2005 (Degeneration).

Derek C. Simmons

In the guides: RE6: page, boss on the train, as a dinosaur, on the walkway, on the rooftop and as a fly

The US National Security Advisor and head of The Family, his family’s secret society, based under Tall Oaks Cathedral (The Family). According to an RE6 file, he was the one who ordered Raccoon City’s destruction in 1998 (Scorched Earth); Requiem tells another version, in which The Connections lobbied for it. He held Sherry in his custody, and his team derived the C-Virus from her blood. Obsessed with Ada, who worked for him, he orders Project Ada and in 2009 turns Carla into her double. In 2013, to silence Benford about Raccoon City, he attacks Tall Oaks and blackmails Helena. Carla infects him: he mutates again and again and dies on 1 July 2013 at Lanshiang’s Quad Tower (Leon 5). More on his era in the bioterrorism era.

Carla Radames

In the guides: RE6: page, boss

A child prodigy with a doctorate at 15, recruited by Simmons’s foundation. From 2001 she develops the C-Virus from the T-Veronica and the G-Virus. Simmons uses her in Project Ada: on 30 April 2009 the virus turns her into a copy of Ada Wong (Two Ada Wongs). Broken, she founds Neo-Umbrella to take revenge on Simmons and the world: in Edonia (2012) she destroys Chris’s squad posing as Ada, and in 2013 she launches the C-Virus on Tatchi. A Family gunman shoots her on the aircraft carrier; she injects the Enhanced C-Virus and Ada kills her (Ada 4; Carla’s Revenge).

Mother Miranda

In the guides: Village: page, boss at the Ceremony Site and in Shadows of Rose

A biologist from a village in Eastern Europe. In 1919 the Spanish flu kills her daughter Eva, aged 10; Miranda goes down into the caves, finds the Megamycete and comes back with the power to “heal”. She takes over the Four Houses and spends a century implanting villagers with the Cadou, looking for a vessel for Eva: those who bond become her four Lords; the rest, Lycans. In the 1950s she teaches Spencer. She gives The Connections the Mold and a clone of Eva (in the 1990s or around 2000), and Eveline comes from that. In February 2021 she impersonates Mia, takes Rose, kills Ethan and dies in her own ritual (chapter 12; Miranda’s Diary). In 2037 her echo tries to take Rose’s body. See the Mold.

Eveline

In the guides: RE7: page, boss · Village: page, boss in Shadows of Rose

E-001, the bioweapon The Connections create in Munich in the early 2000s from the Mold and the DNA of Eva, Miranda’s daughter, aged artificially to look about ten. She controls the infected and only wants a family. In October 2014 she escapes on the Annabelle and makes the Bakers hers; without her drugs she ages into the old woman in the wheelchair (2016). Ethan kills her in July 2017 (chapter 8). In 2021 her echo tells Ethan he has been dead since 2017, and in 2037 she returns in the Mold’s memory (Shadows of Rose 2).

Jack Baker

In the guides: RE7: page, boss as a stalker, in the garage, in the morgue, as Mutated Jack, in Nightmare and as the Swamp Man (base, paddle boat, final)

An ex-Marine and the father of the Baker family of Dulvey, Louisiana. On 9 or 10 October 2014 he and Lucas find the grounded ship and take in Mia and Eveline; within days the family is hers. In July 2017 he beats Ethan to death in chapter 1 (“Welcome to the family, son!”), stalks him through the main house and falls to him in chapter 5. Regenerated in the swamp as the “Swamp Man”, he is killed for good by his brother Joe in August (End of Zoe).

Marguerite Baker

In the guides: RE7: page, boss as a stalker, in the pit, in the greenhouse and in Ethan Must Die

The Bakers’ mother. Eveline infects her in October 2014 with the rest of the family, and the Mold binds her to insects, which she calls her “babies”. In July 2017 she roams the old house with her lantern after Ethan (chapter 3), who beats her in the pit and in the greenhouse (Marguerite’s Notebook). She returns in the Banned Footage videos (Vol. 1).

Lucas Baker

In the guides: RE7: page, boss in Not a Hero

The Bakers’ son, a trap engineer. In January 2015 The Connections set up a lab in the salt mine, give him their serum and make him their agent; on 11 June 2017 he kills the researchers. In July he sets up the barn “games” for Ethan (chapter 4) and runs. Chris chases him through the mine: after sending his data to The Connections he mutates and dies (Not a Hero; Lucas’ Journal). The only lead on the organisation dies with him.

Alcina Dimitrescu

In the guides: Village: page, boss as Lady Dimitrescu and mutated · her daughters: page, Bela, Cassandra, Daniela

The countess of the castle, one of Miranda’s four Lords; according to Fandom she received the Cadou before 1958, aged 44 (Dimitrescu’s Medical Report). A hereditary blood disease forces her to drink blood, and she exports the Sanguis Virginis wine (a bottle turns up in Requiem). Her three “daughters” were born of Cadou flies that consumed three women. In February 2021 Ethan kills all three and, after stabbing her with the Dagger of Death’s Flowers, the transformed countess (chapter 4; Alcina Dimitrescu’s Diary).

Donna Beneviento

In the guides: Village: page, Angie, boss

One of Miranda’s four Lords: the lady of House Beneviento, silent and veiled, whose house Ethan enters without his weapons. She speaks through her doll, Angie, and fills Ethan’s head with hallucinations from the pollen of Mold-infected plants. Angie carries part of her Cadou: the third time Ethan stabs the doll, Donna dies (chapter 6; Donna’s Medical Report).

Salvatore Moreau

In the guides: Village: page, boss

The Lord of the reservoir, one of Miranda’s four: hunchbacked, fish-like and desperate for his “Mother’s” approval since the tribunal in chapter 3. In February 2021 Ethan takes his flask with a piece of Rose and he begs to have it back; Moreau turns into a giant fish and dies in the flooded houses (chapter 8; Moreau’s Diary 1, Moreau’s Medical Report).

Karl Heisenberg

In the guides: Village: page, boss

The Lord of the factory, who controls metal. He hates Miranda and builds an army of Soldats to overthrow her. At the tribunal in chapter 3 he throws Ethan into the mines “for fun”; later he offers an alliance and wants to use Rose as a weapon. Ethan refuses and beats him with the tank Chris gives him in chapter 11 (Heisenberg’s Diary).

Victor Gideon

In the guides: Requiem: page, boss in the bike chase and in the finale

A former Umbrella t-Virus researcher who idolised Spencer without ever being on ARK’s staff. He skips the Umbrella trials (Report on Victor Gideon) and, after the bankruptcy, buys the Rhodes Hill Care Center with Connections money, working for them for more than twenty years. In 2004 he decides that the child Spencer adopted is the memory transfer that worked and holds the Elpis password (Victor’s Journal Entry). In 2018 he sends the assassin who kills Alyssa. In 2026 he kidnaps Grace; when Elpis turns out to be an antiviral he turns on The Connections, beheads Zeno with the Nemesis-γ parasite he carries and Leon kills him (chapter 15).

Zeno

In the guides: Requiem: page

A high-ranking member of The Connections, Victor’s employer and financier (“Z” in ARK’s minutes). He has Wesker-like powers and Raccoon City Syndrome marks, which suggests he was there in 1998, though the game never says so. He believes Elpis is a mind-control weapon. In October 2026 he takes Grace away (chapter 8), tells her his version at the police station (chapter 10) and presses her in ARK. In the canon ending he injects Elpis, loses his powers and Victor beheads him; in the other ending he kills Leon.

The Commander

In the guides: Requiem: page, boss

Leader of The Connections’ Elite Guard in ARK. In October 2026 he ambushes Leon (“Leon Kennedy. We finally meet.”), lets him ride out a coughing fit and loses the knife duel with a seemingly fatal cut to the neck; his body later vanishes (chapter 13). Some guides identify him as HUNK because they share an English voice actor; the game does not confirm it.

Allies and supporting cast

Ashley Graham

In the guides: RE4

The US President’s daughter, aged 20, a college student in Massachusetts. In autumn 2004 Krauser kidnaps her on her way home (Info on Ashley) and Saddler infects her. Leon finds her in the church (chapter 2-1), loses her several times in the castle (you control her in chapter 3-4) and rescues her on the island; Luis’s machine removes her Plaga in chapter 5-4 and she escapes with Leon on a jet ski. No other role in the saga is known.

Luis Sera

In the guides: RE4

Born in Valdelobos, a biologist, 28 in 2004. Around 2000 he is hired to lead the Plaga research on the island and engineers the Dominant Plaga. Horrified, he asks for help by email (which is how Ada learns of it), flees with a sample and is captured. In 2004 he escapes with Leon in chapter 1-2, defends him in the cabin in 2-2 and dies in 3-3: Saddler impales him and takes the sample. His pills and his machine save Leon and Ashley (Luis’ Memo).

Ingrid Hunnigan

In the guides: RE4 · RE6

Leon’s voice on the radio. In 2004 she guides him through Spain in fourteen calls (Communication Log: Hunnigan #1) until Salazar takes over the line at the castle; she calls him again in the finale (Communication Log: Hunnigan #14). She is also in Damnation (2011) and Death Island (2015). In 2013 she guides Leon and Helena out of Tall Oaks; it was she who recommended Helena.

The Merchant and the Duke

In the guides: the Merchant in RE4 · the Duke in Village and the Masked Duke in Shadows of Rose

The traders nobody can explain. The Merchant turns up all over Valdelobos in 2004 to sell Leon weapons and upgrades. The Duke, fat and cheerful in his garlic-laden carriage, sells to Ethan in 2021, buys his treasures, cooks for him and drives him to the final battle; he seems to know RE4’s trader (“an old friend used to say…”) and not even he knows what he is. In 2037 his evil twin, the Masked Duke, is one of Rose’s jailers in the Mold’s memory.

Josh Stone

In the guides: RE5

Captain of the West African BSAA’s Delta Team, aged 35, and Sheva’s mentor. In March 2009 he rescues Chris and Sheva (chapter 2-1) with data that includes a photo of Jill; his team falls to the Ndesu, but he survives. In Desperate Escape he gets out of the lab with Jill and at the end flies the helicopter that picks up Chris and Sheva.

Adam Benford

In the guides: RE6

The man who recruited Leon after Raccoon City. Later US President, he founds the DSO in 2011. On 29 June 2013 he was going to reveal, at Ivy University in Tall Oaks, the truth about the government’s role in Raccoon City: that night the C-Virus turns him and Leon has to shoot him (Leon 1; Leon and Adam). In Requiem, Zeno and Grace’s Report say he was killed for trying to reveal it.

Deborah Harper

In the guides: RE6: page, boss

Helena’s younger sister, born in 1992. Simmons’s men kidnap her to force Helena to betray the President. On 29 June 2013, under Tall Oaks Cathedral, she mutates into the monster Leon, Helena and Ada face, and dies (Leon 2, Ada 2; Deborah Harper). At the end of their campaign, Leon and Helena are cleared at her grave.

Zoe Baker

In the guides: RE7

The Bakers’ daughter, infected with the rest of the family in 2014; she wants to cure them and get out. In July 2017 she guides Ethan by phone and makes the serum with him. If Ethan chooses Mia, as in the canon ending, Eveline crystallises her; in August her uncle Joe finds her, cures her and Chris takes them away (End of Zoe). She later writes a report on the Baker incident.

Joe Baker

In the guides: RE7

Jack’s older brother, an ex-Marine who lives alone in the swamp; Eveline never infected him. In August 2017 he sets out to save his niece Zoe, punches his way through the Mold, finds out the “Swamp Man” is his regenerated brother and, with the AMG-78 gauntlet (AMG-78), kills him for good (End of Zoe; Joe’s Note). Chris arrives afterwards and takes him and Zoe away.

Alyssa Ashcroft

In the guides: Requiem

A Raccoon City journalist. In May 1993 she witnesses an outbreak at an Arklay hospital and an Umbrella researcher suppresses the memory. In September 1998 she is one of the eight civilians of Resident Evil Outbreak and, according to Fandom, the only one whose survival is official. She then publishes an exposé on bioweapons, interviews Spencer (the only journalist he accepts) and in 2006 Spencer’s will makes her Grace’s guardian. In 2016 she writes about the Dulvey disappearances (Newspaper Article - Over 20 Missing). She is murdered on 19 October 2018 at the Wrenwood Hotel (Alyssa’s Journal); her disk with the interview is the key to Requiem’s ending (Alyssa’s Interview Notes).

Emily

In the guides: Requiem: page, mutated boss

“Subject 171”, a clone child kept behind glass at the Care Center and blinded by an experiment; she reads braille. Victor modelled her on Grace’s genetic data. In October 2026 Grace rescues her (chapter 5) and takes her along to the water treatment plant, where she bleeds out, revives under CPR and mutates; Leon shoots her down (chapter 8). In the canon ending she is found alive, Elpis cures her and restores her sight, and Grace adopts her.

Marie (The Girl)

In the guides: Requiem: page, boss in the escape, the basement and the finale

“Subject 170”, Emily’s cellmate and another of Victor’s clones. After an injection of infected blood she gains strength but no memories, digs her way to the basement, mutates and becomes light-sensitive; she eats the staff sent to kill her, but protects Emily. She hunts Grace through the Care Center in October 2026 and dies in the sunlight at dawn on 9 October (chapter 8; Subject 170 Record).

Chloe

In the guides: Requiem · Charlotte and the Series 60

A girl at the Raccoon City Orphanage in February 1990, the first Series 70 clone raised to receive Spencer’s memories and the only stable one. When the Series 60 children kill the staff she flees through the orphanage into ARK, finds out she was grown in a tube and is caught; she was presumably put down (chapter 11; Series 60 Results). Zeno shows Grace the recording in 2026.

Umber Eyes and the Hound Wolf Squad

In the guides: the Hound Wolf Squad in Village · Umber Eyes in Requiem

In February 2021 they hunt Miranda with him in the village (chapter 12; Chris’s Computer). In 2037, inside the Mold’s memory, Rose is guided by a “K” who looks like Canine and turns out to be a lure of Miranda’s. On 9 October 2026 Umber Eyes comes down into ARK, sent by Chris, to pull out Leon and Grace (chapter 15).
