Dropped by the Blob crushed with the green trap (south, near the start).
Use
Place it in the central goal (the flashing circle on the map, north side). Each shard placed opens more of the maze and spawns a new Blob that smashes a wall.
Shards needed to open the exit: Amateur 1, Normal 3, Veteran 4, Professional 4.
On Veteran and above a Blob may hold the ceiling up with its weapon: throw a Flash Grenade or hit it in melee, then get out fast.
