Cross Hyrule Field to Kakariko Village — a quiet settlement at the foot of Death Mountain, home to the Skulltula House (the cursed family that pays out rewards for tokens), a potion shop, and the Graveyard out back. Climb Death Mountain Trail dodging rolling boulders until you find a sleeping Goron blocking the entrance to Dodongo’s Cavern; a bomb next to his ear wakes him and clears the way.
The dungeon is full of Baby Dodongos and fire traps; the Bomb Bag appears in a chest partway through, and from there you can blow open the cracked walls hiding Skulltulas and shortcuts. Follow the lava path to the circular room with the Dodongo statue — that’s where the boss waits.
💡 The Deku Shield burns up in this dungeon’s fire — consider buying the Hylian Shield at the Bazaar before you go in.
Boss — King Dodongo
When he inhales to attack, throw a bomb straight into his mouth; he flips over stunned for a few seconds — rush in and slash repeatedly. Repeat the cycle three or four times.
Defeating him gets you the Goron’s Ruby Spiritual Stone and frees the whole Goron tribe, starving after Dodongo cut off their rock supply.
