You wake up with Navi, who leads you to speak with the Great Deku Tree — he’s just asked you to clear the curse that’s killing him. Before heading in, explore Kokiri Forest: Mido blocks the path until you show him you have a fairy; the Kokiri Shop sells the Deku Shield and Deku Nuts; and the hidden grove behind the hollow log holds a chest with the Kokiri Sword, essential before entering the dungeon.
Inside the Deku Tree, use your new sword and shield to fight through Deku Babas and Gohma Larvae. The Fairy Slingshot turns up in a chest partway through — light distant torches with it and knock down webs to reveal chests and Skulltulas. The circular vine room lifts you several floors; follow the web platforms up to the boss room.
💡 Shoot the Deku Babas’ red eyes with the Slingshot before closing in — it saves you several hits.
Boss — Queen Gohma
Wait for the eye on her abdomen to open and hit it with the Slingshot to stun her; rush in and slash while she’s down. Watch for the Gohma Larvae dropping from the ceiling — a Deku Nut clears them all at once.
Defeating her gets you the Kokiri’s Emerald Spiritual Stone, and the dying Deku Tree tells you the truth about Ganondorf and your origin before he passes.
