Withered Wasteland

Formerly: Fuchsia City

Starting area Meet Professor Tangrowth Bulbasaur · Timburr · Hitmonchan Straw Bed

The wasteland where it all starts

Ditto wakes up here, in human form, with no memory of how it got there. According to Professor Tangrowth — the last Pokémon left in this stretch of former Kanto — humans and most Pokémon vanished long ago, and earthquakes and drought have left the land cracked and dry ever since. This is the first area you rebuild, and the only one confirmed in detail by the walkthrough sources this guide draws from.

Early tasks

Professor Tangrowth asks you to meet near the broken-down Pokémon Center. Interacting with its PC activates the rating system and unlocks the Poké Life app.

From there, the opening challenges are concrete and small: find Pokémon, water trees, and collect sturdy sticks. You’ll build habitats beyond your very first ones — a Pretty Flower Bed and a Tree-shaded Tall Grass — to keep attracting new residents.

Behind the Pokémon Center, a Boulder-shaded Tall Grass habitat draws in Timburr, and building an Exercise Resting Spot (a punching bag plus a bench) recruits Hitmonchan.

After those three challenges, Tangrowth points you to Bulbasaur, who asks for a Straw Bed — two leaves, nothing fancier. Building it is what raises Withered Wasteland’s Environment Level to 2.

What to expect

This area sets the pattern the rest of the game repeats: befriend a Pokémon → learn what habitat or furniture it wants → build it → watch the Environment Level (and the area’s population) grow. See the Pokédex and Milestones pages for everything confirmed about Withered Wasteland specifically.
