Bleak Beach

Rebuild the Pokémon Center Brighten Things Up! Meowth · Piplup · Mosslax (Snorlax) Wood Furnace · Utility Poles

A coastline that lost its light

Bleak Beach sits over the ruins of Vermilion City, Kanto’s old port town — but where Withered Wasteland’s problem is drought, Bleak Beach’s is darkness. You reach it through a gate east of Withered Wasteland’s Pokémon Center; Professor Tangrowth follows you across but is “too scared to venture further” once things get dark, so this is the first area where he rides along as company rather than handing out tasks directly.

Opening tasks

The gate opens onto a bridge, broken enough that Tangrowth can’t cross it — fill the gap with material blocks (Soil or Stone Floor work) so it’s at least two tiles wide, then follow him to a flooded Pokémon Center. Seal the gaps letting water in with Beach Sand, boot up the PC, and Tangrowth hands you the “Rebuild the Pokémon Center” request.

From there the main thread runs: repair the bridge → work through Meowth’s requests at his flooded shack → learn Surf → light the city back up. Cleaning out Meowth’s place means clearing oil sludge from out front with a Piplup’s Water Gun (Piplup itself lives in a Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat, made by breaking a block nearby to expose water) and crafting two Mushroom Lamps from mushrooms foraged in a nearby cave.

Brighten Things Up! — waking Mosslax

The area’s signature quest has you chasing down power for the whole beach. Meowth asks you to light three streetlights using an Electric-type like Pawmi, Pawmo, or Mareep; a Wood Furnace in the southwest corner needs roughly 30+ logs to run, and Utility Poles placed around the island carry its electricity further. Following a Trubbish to a walled-off area near the lighthouse turns up the source of strange snoring noises: Mosslax, a moss-covered, slumbering Snorlax. Raise its mood to 80 bloom points, then talk to Torchic and Tangrowth to be sent looking for Peakychu — a pale, dim Pikachu living on a small island near the furnace. Mosslax also ties into the Highlight Reel: the photo op “A Head Full of Blooming Flowers” is taken of it after this quest.

Still unconfirmed

This guide hasn’t independently verified Bleak Beach’s Environment Level milestones or its full Pokémon roster beyond the names above — those are left for a future pass, same honesty rule as everywhere else in this guide.
